MOSCOW, January 31 (R-Sport) – Former Columbus Blue Jackets forward Alexandre Giroux has left Dinamo Riga on mutual consent, the KHL team announced Thursday.
Giroux signed a two-year contract with the Latvians in May, but they have parted ways with Dinamo out of the running for a playoffs spot, languishing at the bottom of the Western Conference.
“Since the team didn’t make it into the playoffs, he expressed his desire to finish the season in another team, but he is ready to return to Riga for next season,” Dinamo said on its website.
Giroux played 47 KHL games and scored 21 points.
The forward spent most of his career in the Northern American minor leagues, but also made 48 NHL appearances for four different teams.
