MOSCOW, January 23 (R-Sport) - Former Colorado Avalanche wing Marek Svatos has signed a contract till the end of the season with Slovan Bratislava, the KHL newcomer announced Wednesday.
After a 21-month break due to serious problems with his knees, he attended the Florida Panthers training camp last week but failed to make it onto the roster and decided to return to his native Slovakia.
Svatos, 30, spent almost his entire career in North America except for a short KHL stint with Avangard Omsk in 2010, where he played 19 games.
He spent seven seasons in the NHL, scoring 102 goals and 77 assists in 358 games with Colorado, the Nashville Predators and the Ottawa Senators.
Slovan is close to qualifying for the playoffs in its first KHL season and is sixth in the Western Conference with seven games to go in the regular season.
