MOSCOW, December 8 (R-Sport) – New York Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky scored his sixth KHL goal Saturday to steer Slovan Bratislava past Lev Prague 2-1.
The Slovak newcomer grabbed its 17th victory to rise to fifth in the Western Conference, while Lev remains seventh.
Visnovsky opened the scoring with a powerful strike on 16 minutes when the hosts were on a power play.
Roman Kukumberg doubled the lead at the beginning of the second period as his wrist shot first found the post, then goaltender Tomas Pepperle’s back finally hitting the net.
The visitors retaliated only once as Boston Bruins veteran defenseman Zdeno Chara scored a rebound goal from the crease on 28 minutes.
Slovan goalie Jaroslav Janus more than played his part, pulling off 34 saves.
The first match between the two teams held in the Czech capital ended with the same result in early November.
