MOSCOW, September 21 (RIA Novosti) - Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has been unveiled as a SKA St. Petersburg lockout signing.

Bobrovsky signed a deal in the team’s office in St. Petersburg before his official unveiling.

“As soon as lockout was declared, we started negotiations [with SKA management] and, thankfully, have come to an agreement,” Bobrovsky told reporters.

“Frankly, I don’t know whether SKA has problems with goaltenders, it’s hard to judge. We’ll play and we’ll see, I’ll try to show my best hockey.”

The 23-year-old said that team play is key and all the team’s goaltenders will seek to help SKA to achieve the required results.

"The main thing is a team, and it’s for the coaching staff to decide who exactly will bring a result.”

Bobrovsky was traded to Columbus in June after two seasons at the Philadelphia Flyers, where he racked up 90 NHL appearances.

Bobrovsky started his career with Metallurg Novokuznetsk before moving to North America in 2010.

He is expected to be the second of three lockout signings by the Gazprom-backed team.

New Jersey Devils star Ilya Kovalchuk was appointed SKA’s captain on Tuesday and St. Louis Blues wing Vladimir Tarasenko is expected to ink his contract later Friday.

According to KHL regulations, each team may sign a maximum of three players from the North American league.

SKA should be the second KHL team to fill this quota after Metallurg Magnitogorsk signed last season’s MVP Evgeni Malkin, Ottawa Senators defenseman Sergei Gonchar and Nikolai Kulemin of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

On Sunday, the St. Petersburg team will travel to Moscow to face local Dynamo, which thrashed SKA in the conference finals last season.
