MOSCOW, March 7 (R-Sport) - Willian’s condition is “not good” after an injury forced him off in Anzhi Makhachkala’s 0-0 Europa League draw with Newcastle United on Thursday, Anzhi’s assistant coach Zeljko Petrovic said.
Anzhi’s star winter signing hobbled off after 22 minutes, shortly after appearing to hurt himself when he fell awkwardly under a challenge from Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.
“He felt something in the hamstring and we couldn’t take the risk because we have a lot of important games,” Petrovic said of the subsitution.
“It’s not easy to say not how big is the problem but it’s not good.”
Brazil winger Willian joined Anzhi from Shakhtar Donetsk in January for a reported fee of 35 million euros.
