MOSCOW, February 6 (R-Sport) - Spartak Moscow have agreed a deal to loan striker Welliton back to his home country of Brazil for a spell with Gremio, the Russian club said Wednesday.
Welliton has been with Spartak since 2007 and has been Russian Premier League top scorer with the team in two different seasons, but has been frozen out amid a recent influx of strikers, including Nigeria’s Emmanuel Emenike.
Welliton will spend the rest of 2013 at Gremio, subject to a medical examination upon his arrival in Brazil on Wednesday. Reports in Brazil this week have linked him with transfer to Gremio's rivals Flamengo.
He has played 133 games for Spartak, scoring 61 times.
Two rumored departures have failed to materialize, with Emenike and Ireland winger Aiden McGeady both still at the club.
The Russian transfer window closes February 24.
